My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
No Ricky-Rafa deliberately runs behind the cushions on every couch to knock them on the floor. Unfortunately, all of our sofas have loose cushions, so he does this to all of them, and pillows too.
Thank you! And yes I was soooo grateful I was home too. I actually had been go for about an hour and he ran out the door with the bag on his head and bonked into my leg. I panicked and took it off as soon as I saw it. Later when I realized he had no permanent damage I let myself laugh about it but did worry what might have been if I hadn't been there. Now we super "Miles-proof" the house whenever we leave. It's just so strange because he NEVER used to try and get into any trash or anything like that.
I'm so sorry to hear about the other member's corgi. =(
hi Natalie:) i agree that we need to wait its just hard to see puppy pics all the time lol the puppy phase can be a bit much but i do miss those days. i just hope the neighbor thing gets resolved soon. by the way i am so happy that u adopted tucker:D thats wonderful of you! im glad things worked so well for you. Maybe one day, when the time is right, a puppy or adult corgi will come along to be in our lives.
so no need to worry:) i want it to be the right time to bring him/her home(hopefuly we will move away or the dogs next door will be gone lol)
hi there:), thanks for the comments on my pics! it was a lot of fun! it took some encouragement to get him out there on his own but once he knew he would be alright (and the fact that i was out there too) he was loving it lol i bet lance and tucker will love it:) what i did to make teddy see it in a positive light i threw sticks in there and i did the "happy voice" haha
yeah, me too! still not totally sure what happened. we let them out before bed like we always do and she bolted towards a trash can in the yard where we keep bird food and i guess there was a coon trying to get in the trash can and she chased it and then we heard a yelp. but we are pretty sure it was the coon yelping and that it got away fine because then we yelled at holly to come back inside and she didn't have a scratch on her!
Corgis ARE the best! :o)
Thank you for the warm welcome. This seems like a fun site...I'm looking forward to getting to know some fellow Corgi lovers out there in the cyber world!
As I learn more and more about the site, there will be more and more pictures of my baby-boys to come.
I look forward to talking to you! :o)
~xoxo~
thanks for the comment on the ferminator it has just been this week that I have had to use the ferminator, zeus is losing his baby coat and I mean everywhere fuffs follow him lol otherwise I use the ferminator once a week or so inbetween a soft brushing daily :) I guess its just shed time for them both :( hope it ends soon
Oh my I too did it outside and left it for the birds lol I sware fur flew everywhere, I didn't know it pulled their hair I thought it just got the dead stuff :( I guess I better back off with it thanls for the advice
Thanks for the info on the chatroom. It confused me because I wasn't seeing any comments being posted at all despite many people listed as being "present" there.
BTW, what a *gorgeous* dog! Never seen a corgi with that coloring.
Hi Natalie! I know this is more than a long overdue message, but I was so touched by the comment you left me back in March. If you remember, I was curious to see where you obtained Tucker's green plaid collar. You had later found the same one at Target. It was so very sweet of you to think of us and message me that you found it. Thank you so very much, I'm going to keep my eyes open! =) I hope read the recent news on Lance - I hope everything goes well on Friday and he heals quickly. Such a sweet, sweet boy! Give him a good belly rub from Alwyn and I. I'm also so glad to see that Tucker is still flourishing in his new forever home. =)
Thank you for the welcome! We are no strangers to rescue. We volunteer with a Siberian Husky Rescue and have had several of our own - 2 at the present time. Over the past few years we discovered Corgis at various horse shows my daughter has been at, and have been hooked on them ever since. We've been searching for one in rescue but have discovered they're very difficult to find....which I guess is a good thing! I'm constantly scanning Petfinder and 800-Save-A-Pet and hope that one of these days we'll find a new Corgi friend. Hopefully this forum will be yet another tool I can use on our quest for Corgi.
I know, it's been ages hasn't it? I'm rarely on here these days. Finn is great though. happy and goody as ever. Hope you guys are doing well :) Talk to you soon.
i would love too, but i don't know how to go about it. i'm sure you don't just walk in and say" i want that one ". i'm just afraid i might not be able to give what ever dog i choose, the home and love it my need.
Thanks !!! Yes weve been Mia but uncle Parker had a talk with Bailey so were gonna try to keep the site updated! :) how are your corgis? I remember lance but is Tucker new? Bailey is almost 3 1/2 now... Crazy to think I was on this site even before he came home at 8 weeks!!!
hmm i am not familiar with auto immune diseases on dogs, but i hope Lance is ok and it can be controlled via diet or medication, and that he is still spunky as ever. He looks really good, sucha pretty blue merle like one of bailey's bff's (catch the australian shepherd is a blue merle aussie) :) Tucker is very handsome and I cannot believe you found him at a shelter! corgis in a shelter?!? so unheard of!
we have good corgi groups here in the bay area, and the members are good about postings of corgis in need for adoption, but i can only say ive seen a handful of these types of posts in the 3 1/2 years ive owned bailey.
aww give Lance a hug for us. One of Bailey's friend, Bryson, is alos on steroids. (thesenakams.typepad.com) . He has something called Addison's. Could be a resource for you!!!.....
Sorry to hear about Lance. We are dealing with the same thing with Tenby. His started with swollen face and eyes two weeks ago. The first medicine didn't work and auto immune is strongly suspected. He has been on the steroid for one week and is doing so much better. His face is normal size again (we didn't realize how swollen it was until now) and his eyes look so much better. He rarely itches and we can just tell he is feeling better. At one point he was on 8 pills a day (3 for a shoulder problem) for a Corgi that meant a lot of good treats to get them all down. Now that he is only on 4 and 3 are hidden in breakfast and dinner he is very upset that the "treat wagon" has really slowed down. Hope Lance is feeling better soon.
PS Lance is my most favorite Corgi here!!!! I want a Blue Merle Card so much.
Natalie, thank you for your condolences. We miss her so. We are thinking of finding a corgi pup to raise this Fall. My husband has a name picked out: Sunshine. That is because a corgi brings Sunshine wherever it goes. How is Lance doing with is it allergies? I noted how when Lance had to take meds, he doesn't mind since it means getting treats.
When Josie was so sick, she still looked forward to all the pill pocket treats. She was a little treat trickster, always thinking of some new way to get a treat from her Poppa.
Your Corgis are so cute. They are such wonderful creatures. Pat
Thanks for welcoming me! :D when we introduced them it was in the backyard, I didn't know it was good to do it somewhere else. We actually just had a great break through, Tobi went number 1 & 2 in the yard for the first time and we were sure to praise him. How often would you recommend letting him outside? He eats 1 cup of dry food at 7:30 am and another cup at 4:30 pm.
I couldn't figure out how to read the rest of the comment, lol, so I'm responding about the mounting. King the GS constantly follows Tobi around and tries to tackle him and mount him all while Tobi is just running in circles and whenever King is not trying to mount him Tobi is jumping ALL over him and getting in his face and my mom freaks out because King is old and she doesn't want him to slip and break a leg. While he is biting I try to give him his toys and sometimes it works. Will the chewing and rough housing type play settle down as he gets older?
Thanks for the advice on the biting as well as when to let Tobi outside! Things are already getting a lot better! Except for one thing, I'll let him outside and he will pee up to 4 times and as soon as he gets back in my bedroom he will pee again. Is this because he is not neutered yet? Also, he will poop as soon as he gets back inside, any reasons why? Or is it because he is still a learning pup?
Yup, he does pee in different spots in my room so I'm gonna say marking. My boyfriend and I are looking to get him neutered soon. I try to keep him out as long as possible, but after a few minutes he starts whimpering by the door to go inside. And when I have him out on a leash he won't budge :/
It was great fun for the kids and the dogs. I love your corgis. Good for you for rescuing Tucker from the shelter. He looks so sweet, like my youngest Corgi "Jake". The blue merle is really unique. Nice blue eyes. Great cat costume too. I wouldn't mind a couple of those for the winter, looks cozy!
I Hope Lance is doing better!! I don't get a chance to be on much anymore (my health has almost hit bottom now). I can sympathize with Lance - It's no fun to be sick! Hugs to Lance - and Tucker too!!
Thanks for the comment about Wynne & Will's pictures.
I love the pictures of your beautiful Cards. I am sorry that Lance is not well. He is such a beautiful boy. It is hard to beat blue merle with blue eyes. How is he doing? Are the meds helping?
