About My Corgi(s):
Our wonderful tri-colored Pem went to the bridge on Feb. 13, at the age of nearly 13. We miss him sorely. I can't imagine replacing him, but can't live without another corgi. In the fall, we hope to get another.

stairs?

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 10:16am 4 Comments

After 8 corgiless months, we picked up our baby yesterday. He is so sweet and
affectionate, a very good boy. I was awake all night waiting for him to wake up and
need to leave the crate. He slept and I didn't! I have a question: This pup is 3 months
and the breeder told me no stairs until he's 6 months. This is hard as we live in a
split level, but we'll go along unless we hear differently on good authority. Anyone
else have experience with this?

Al's mom is owned by Cheri Helsdon; Gwynnie's mom is Joyce Gilpin's (now in Monroe).
Yes, Al & Gwynn are musical; Al yodels and they composed a song:
Little Dog Blues
This contain a link to the Jimmy Rogers original; why don't you record it and post it here after you teach your little guy to yodel /howl on cue? It also has a YouTube cut of Lightning Hopkins' "Lonesome Dog Blues" (I just got that record at a garage sale).

BTW, who bred the mom? Al's sire was Carrie's Carey Grant, and the dam was owned by ...drawing a blank, I have her name on my puter at home... but I think she may have been on Vashon or in that area... Carrie took that litter over when there was some family emergency.

No kidding, you've got one of Carrie Hale's dogs? They are great animals, and we've gone back to Carrie's just to squeeze puppy fur.
Let's see... I ran into somebody on the West Fork Foss R trail who recognized Al as resembling their dog named... Gadabout? Runabout? something like that, and it was one of Carrie's. No! Maybe it was Tagalong, the friend you just lost!? I think I remember him saying something about the dog getting on in years and arthritic or something. Yes, I'm almost positive.
That was the trip when I got the photo of Al on Iron Cap Mtn., Mr. December in the 2009 MyCorgi.com calendar.
Have a great life with your new friend! Say hi to Carrie for us next time you talk. Maybe we'll see you on the trail soon.
Carrie's dogs have radiant personalities:

Thank you! They are a great group of low riders.

I can't seem to help it with the animals lol. I grew up on a farm with lots of them and I want the same thing for my kids. I think it is good for them. We don't have video games in our house so they get to play with the animals instead.

Welcome and I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find the right fit to your family when the time is right. I can't imagine life without my "kids".

Welcome Jill. I'm sorry to hear about Tag; it sounds like he had a great, full life with you.

Welcome. You will never replace your Tag, it only shows what a big whole he left in your heart when he departed. We lost our Tedi 12/29/08 and knew in about a week and a half we had to have another Corgi. Didn't mean we were replacing him just have a lot of love to share with another now that we don't have him. I hope you find the corgi this fall. Best of luck.
