I used to just take them on the steps in the pool, which they could stand on and still have their heads out of the water, and then I would take their favorite ball/toy and throw it just a few inches/feet out of their reach so the would have to go in after it. They quickly both got it down. Rusty will jump in from the edge of the pool straight into the water now without using the steps, where as Lilo prefers the steps. I may have been lucky to get 2 that enjoy that water so much.

Aww! I gotta ask you, how do your corgi's swim?? My corgi Conor always tries to swim and he never can, he jumps in the pool and he kicks his legs, but he just sinks. I'm thinking about just buying him a lifejacket.
