We of course have a lot of photos of Winston in the months before he developed his health issue, and he was running around acting happy and normal.  I'm just glad we ALWAYS loved him and enjoyed him and now we don't look back with any regrets.   It's always bothered me that Winston seemed like he was just fine when in fact, looking back, he was developing a raging case of diabetes.  His vets all told my husband and me that dogs are very different than people, and as far as diabetes is concerned, they can thrive even when they have rather high levels of glucose.   Annie looks so sweet snuggled in that blanket.

This unfortunately was taken just a few months before she died.  We just didn't realize how sick she was.

How sweet.   Our Westie named Sparky spent a lot of time on the couch all wrapped up in blankets like that when he was almost 15 years old.   Nothing like a pup snuggled up in blankets.  How we love them.
