Avalanche danger high. This is a safe ridge route. The previous day, unbelievably, a lone hiker in a notorious avalanche chute was caught in the tail end of a long slide, buried 3-5' deep, managed to REACH HIS CELL PHONE and call for a successful rescue!! This is unheard-of. A search dog featured prominently in the rescue, sniffing him out almost immediately.
