5850', above the Pacific Crest Trail. The little shark's tooth on the skyline right-of-center was our objective, but we didn't even get close. We spent the night on the little peak below and to the right of it, after chasing off the goats who live there.
Hint: this was a hot, sunny day -- it does happen, even in the Washington Cascades, even on a weekend sometimes. We have to get our sunburn when we can. It might look cold with all this snow, but the bright reflected sun can be brutal on a black-backed tri. They wilt in the heat.
July 23, 2011. The snowpack this year is absurd; people will be talking about it for years to come.
I tried the Chillybuddy(TM) cooling vest for the first time -- and it actually seemed to help, especially when it was wet.
