7300' on the NW buttress of Fortress Mt., Glacier Peak Wilderness. You have to work kinda hard to see this side of this mountain. It is truly one of the loveliest places on Earth.
The pink tinge on the lower glaciers is real; it's caused by the alga Chlamydomonas nivalis. The alpine snow ecosystem includes nematodes (roundworms) that make it look like the snow is covered with animal hairs -- until you see that they're moving slowly.
