We purchased and installed a new baby gate in our home (for the dogs), cause one of the ones we had was falling apart. For a number of reasons we decided to get one of the gates with a latching door that allows you to pass through it safely. I chose one that had a foot pedal. You press the pedal with your foot and either open the gate by hand or you can simply bump it open with a knee or hip if your hands are full. So I’ve already used it several times today, and Ein has been watching me very carefully. She’s a sneaky smart one. I grabbed my camera and walked through it again to see what she’s do, and sure enough, she is showing some major curiosity about that foot pedal. She’s looked it over, sniffed it, licked it, tried to take a little nibble taste, and pawed at it with her foot. She knows there’s some kind of magic in that foot pedal that lets people pass. At least it requires enough pressure that she could never work it on her own.
