Gwynnie climbed this popular, interesting and rather large peak a year ago -- up through the forest to the clearing, then along the left-hand ridge -- a mostly easy trail all the way. We were first up and last down, watching sunset from that ridge. We got a rare, close look at a weasel, also a dying skunk ("Leave It! Good Dog!!").
A major geologic feature of western Washington, the Straight Creek Fault, goes right through this mountain; the geology on either side of it is totally different.
