That is great that you are such loving parents. We have one that cannot get up and down stairs any more so we carry her every so she can be with us.The vet said same day she will just not be able to get up at all but as long as she is happy we will tend to her needs

That picture was one year ago, 15 months after Opie was diagnosed with degenerative myleopathy. I am happy to report that Opie is still very happy, but is completely immobile from the DM. He has been unable to walk in his cart since November 2009, so we dedicate our time ensuring he is comfortable, engaged and loved.

OMG! What I am ready is Opie weighed 50+ lbs before you got him? Wow that is a total shame. We have rescued several pups but our large dog is not even that heavy. Opie looks very happy now.

He's a fluffy. My guess is that is why the breeder gave him to her daughter as a family pet and then he got discarded to the backyard when they switched to breeding poodles. He was with them for 7 years before the rescue got him. 3 months later he was with me. He came to me weighing 40 pounds (after the foster mom got 10 pounds off of him) and very bad teeth. This January we will be celebrating 5 happy years with him!
