I went through Reese going on the porch last winter but she doesn't like rain and tries to wait but then stays close to the doggie door and I have to watch where I walk when I go out. Randy doesn't like water either, so last winter, I put some dirt in his baby pool and put some poo in the dirt and told her she could use it. She used is mostly for urine but mostly I think she went out for solids. We didn't have cool weather last year so if we have snow, I don't know what she will do???? I will attach a pic of her bath room for last winter.
Ponyo was rescued from an animal hoarder who kept her in a room, so we think that's where her housebreaking issues/aversion to the outdoors came from. We've been introducing her to new things, like the water, but if she really hates something, we don't push it. We took her swimming last summer, and she climbed all over us like we were islands to get out of the water. She'll do her business outside now, but if it's raining or there's snow, she'll poop on the deck instead of going into the yard. Sigh. Life is about compromises.
You never know what a rescue has been through. My rescue Reese, who is a mix with some corgi was apparently once a very loved pets but somehow lost her family and may have been on the loose but then she was in rescue over a year. But she has the bossiness that corgis had and seemed to want to be in charge but she was also very sick so we also had house training problems and some were revenge doing indoor business but that stopped and I have gotten her well and she has made a great pet. I had to work hard at trying to understand her and finally realized what a horrible series of experiences she had been through and we did come to a loving peace.
She's 3 or 4, I think. We've had some minor issues with her, mostly to do with housebreaking, but she's a very good girl.
She really does look like a good girl. Do you have an idea of her age?
She's a very sweet little rescued dog. Great with kids, not aggressive or fearful. We got very lucky with her.
Such a sweet looking cutie
