It really is amazing! We had a female Irish Wolfhound when our daughter came. She is adopted from Korea and was 6 months old. I have a picture of Bex sitting on our bed with a handfull of Tasha's fur several hours after we came home from the airport. Tasha watched over Bex like she was her puppy...yet Tasha had never had puppies. She watched her and alerted when she was up from naps, if she was fussing. When Bex was learning to stand she would grab a handful of fur on Tasha's neck and pull herself up. You could see Tasha tightening her neck muscles so the kid would have as strong as possible "stand" to pull herself up.
I think Bex thought Tasha was her furry sister. When she was a toddler she drew on my dishwasher with red crayon. Ok...teaching moment here. I asked Bex who did it. She looked me calmly in the face and said Tasha. One sibling blaming the other. I had all to do not to laugh. I just told her to tell Tasha that she cannot draw on anything except paper. OK.
They are best buds, Walter ALWAYS makes Alex smile. We never have to use a baby monitor, Walter will alert us as soon as Alex starts to wake up from a nap. Walter isn't over protective he just likes to be near him. Walter usually sleep on our bed but some morning he will be sleeping beside the crib.
Nothing better than a baby/child and their dog!
Such a good baby sitter. Does Walter try to take care of the baby?
