Gwynn's turn; Al did it last year.
May 15 2010. Avalanche danger very real, so we got up on that safe ridge, bottom left, and followed it to the top. Ridges are safe, mostly, that's why we were here. Snowshoes. Uphill, it's tough for a corgi -- some steep places with deep snow, they need verbal encouragement, but you'd be amazed at what they can negotiate. You don't take long strides, you're breaking a corgi trail. Downhill, she looked like she was smiling all the way, often skiing on her paws, a pretty dog witha stunning mountain backdrop. On the afternoon descent, backcountry skiers released heavy wet surface slides that avalanched over those cliffs in the center.
A 3200' climb in snow all the way, 5.5 hours to the summit. Photo taken at 4800'; the summit is 6280'.
Gwynn had no trouble with her feet in the snow.
The skiers at the summit had a beautiful dog that looked exactly like a coyote.
