Gwynnie considers a steep traverse on snow. She can walk the crust; I cannot. Quite awkward on showshoes. This is steeper than it looks, and very deep. I have trimmed her crampons too short. The crusty snow was hard on Al's paws; I saw him licking them, but he never slowed down.
