Lois, thanks for the info! I have Story in a martingale collar right now. It's the only thing that I don't have to chase her down to put it on her! I got a really nice harness from a Greyhound online store, it is a martingale style at the top (between the shoulder blades) and also hooks in the front, so the leash hooks in front and at the top. She walked perfectly when I used it, but she HATES any kind of harness contraption, so I went back to the martingale collar. She still tugs a little, but I just add a lot more "heel" and "watch me" when she does, so she has improved. Now when hubby or kids walk her, it's a different deal...
Do you have one of those head collars? One is Gentle collar (I think) and another one is Halti. Both are intended to aid in control of tuggers. It is hard to get the right size unless you can take them to a store. It is easier to adjust the Gentle collar but its nose band is too narrow and tends to irritate. I like the design of the Halti better but even though we have 2 both are somewhat large.
Story would LOVE to pull a sleigh or a sled! Getting her not to pull takes a ton a patience on my part (and treats!)
I've got a boy like that I took him for a bath Sat. to PetSmart and the Santa out front commented that he could pull the slay and I agreed. I have had a bad foot and his training has lapsed. My 2 will tug anything.
Hi Rachel! Story will be 9 months on the 26th and she is still only 16 pounds. She's a tiny thing but man, is she every STRONG (tug-o-war queen)
how much does she weigh
Story will be 7 months old on the 26th :) Thanks! I think she is still precious, too!
about 7-8 months old?
But is still a precious looking baby.
