Linda Masters said… Eileen, I am so sorry for your loss of Katie. I recently joined corgi.com just recently after of loss my Annie to cancer in July. Her death was totally unexpected and very devastating. I can't believe all the kind words I recieved from total strangers. This is a very warm website.
I wasn't expecting to get another dog so soon, as I had to put my 16 year old Cujo to sleep the end of April and lost my sweet corgi Annie the end of July. I had Jake, my 8 yr old corgi. We were presented with the opportunity to adopt 7 year old Gryffin. He was a rescue that had a history of abuse and needed a home. Jake has a new buddy and I fell in love with him quickly. I still miss my Annie every day and as you did with your Katie, we had a special bond.
I know your heart will heal in time, but it sure hurts in the meantime. Thoughts are with you.
Wilson Waddlepants and Joyce said… Eileen, I just read your profile and saw that you lost Katie. Our 10 1/2 year old Winston died seven weeks ago and we're heart broken. I can't tell you how helpful everyone on this website has been to me. Being able to talk with other Corgi owners who love their pets as much as we do, and to find others who have lost theirs recently has been so helpful. I can honestly say I'm doing so much better because of being able to connect with so many other wonderful people. We have two other dogs as well, but there was just something about my relationship with Winston that I can't explain. It almost seems like we lost a child. Of course I hesitate to say that, since there may be someone who has lost their son or daughter, and losing a pet could never compare. Feel free to share anytime. I will listen as much as you want to talk. In my opinion it's helpful to post pictures of Katie so you can share her with everyone. I have spent hours on this website looking at Corgi photos and watching videos, and yes I have cried and cried, but it's been a good outlet. I'm crying now . . . Take care, Joyce
Welcome Eileen! I'm so sorry to hear about Katie. The bond you shared sounds just like my life with Sidney. Corgis are a special breed, that's for sure.
