My husband, Wally and I have two Welsh Pembroke Corgis, Tasha and Ziggy, as well as three other dogs, three cats, and a flock of chickens. We live on the family farm, which has been in my family since 1815 and is a Tennessee Century Farm (www.bandwcattle.com). We raise beef cattle, but the corgis are no help - they only herd each other and our other dogs. I publish The Busy Bee Trader and my husband is a partner in a restaurant. We are working on the "agritourism" angle for the farm and have planted a blueberry patch and asparagus for future sales.
I always loved Tasha Tudor's children's books that featured her corgis. I was at the vet with one of our other critters and a lady had her corgi babies there getting their shots. I fell in love with them on the spot, got her number and we ended up buying two from her. Tasha was the only girl of the eight pups so we took her, and Ziggy was the most rambunctious of the bunch. I'm so glad we got them both because they have so much fun together. They are three now and still play hide and seek and chase and wrestle with each other. When sirens go off they run to each other and synchronize their howling chorus. Tasha loves kids and usually flops down and rolls over for them to scratch her belly. We would like to breed her in the next year or so if anyone has a registered red and white with a smaller body frame as she is small. Her fur stays pretty slick but Ziggy is a fuzz monster with the double thick fur.
