We actually have three corgis as of this past weekend:) Even though not planned to happen this way, I saw the cutest & skinniest little corgi in my area that needed a home ---was given up by an allergic woman on oxygen--and had been in a foster home for a month....I was a little hesitant to consider, because my two at home are older....but the foster family agreed to let us trial her for a day to see if compatible. And it worked out just fine after quite a bit of jockeying around power on the part of my two.
So to answer your question, we have a male cardigan who is 12, a female cardigan who is 9, and a 1 year old pembroke...Our male cardi is the most wonderful dog I have ever had. He is not the type of dog anyone can pick up or rub his belly. He is assertive and a little bold. However, he is incredibly smart and once he knows you or you are accepted into our house (with your coat off and no gloves), he will love you too. He is a real challenge at the vets (always has been), and they need to muzzle him, etc. The breeder told us he was the dominant one of the litter when we got him. However, the female became the dominant one once she entered the house (and the breeder told us that would happen too). He is the father figure of the corgi household, but lets the cardi female have her way. Very interesting dynamics when you have more than one. Our male has been a happier dog since we gave him a companion and the two are really inseparable.....hopefully the three will continue to bond well....I can't imagine just having one anymore.
Welcome Judy! So you have a male and a female? Which is the Pem and which is the Cardi? I have a male Cardi and he is a handful. He's only 16 months though so I can't be too mad. :)
