I am a 21-year-old university student, set to graduate next April from Brigham Young University. My husband and I live in Provo, and we've been married for two years. No kids yet. I am a native of Phoenix, Arizona, and came from a family that always loved and raised all kinds of animals. I still distinctly remember going around the house with my older brother and counting the number of pets we had, and the grand total was 21. Amazing, huh?
I fell in love with Pembroke Welsh Corgis after a devastating mishap when I was 14. I had had a Shih Tzu that ended up being stolen from our front yard. I subsequently tried to adopt two dogs--one after the other--but neither worked out. I couldn't bond with them because I was still devastated. Some months later, my brother had a friend who was moving away to college, and his mother was making him get rid of his dogs.
My brother and my mother, with their natural soft spots for animals, wanted to help this friend, and they asked me if I would adopt his Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I actually refused over and over again--until they basically overrode me and decided I was going to take him anyway!
When the day came that we were supposed to pick him up, my brother actually took the liberty to get him and then come pick me up from school. I got into the backseat only to see Zeus look at me from the other side. He crawled into my lap and I began petting him and then burst into tears. I just said, "I love you, Zeus," over and over again...
And we've been in love ever since!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
My Zeus a tri-color Pembroke and is about 8 years old (he was about a year when we got him, and that was about 7 years ago). He is the sweetest little guy, but he still lives with my parents, as he is recovering from having an 8" long malignant tumor removed from his back. He's doing great, but I think my parents are better equipped to take care of him right now. He's one of my best friends, and I love seeing him every time we go down to visit.
We are getting ready to adopt a Pembroke pup from an amazing breeder in Glendale, Arizona. He is currently 3 and 1/2 weeks old and my husband and I are debating names--I like Merlin MacDuff, and my husband is rooting for Trogdor. We'll be going to pick him up in mid-August.
Hey Kay! Hope to see pics of the new puppy =) i love it when theyre that small. Heres Shockoe's baby pic. His blaze went up pretty far too but narrowed out over time =)
