"The approach sounds wonderful. I am gonna give a try --- we also live in the apartment and DouBao has a lot of alert barks. Thanks for sharing. PS: Mine didn't bark till she reached 5 months old..."

Nora & DouBao replied to Tami Whitehouse's discussion Problem child
"I just want to say, my DouBao barked at midnight because the temperature was warm (around 0 outside)to her, and I closed the window before bed. So, I had to get up and open the window/or turn on the fan for her...yes, in the winter time, I think the…"

"I do this with Jack (without the time out at the end) and it works much better than anything else. Corgis were selectively bred to guard the farm, among other duties.  Most of them are content to let you know something is up and let you assess…"

Beca and Mishka replied to Tami Whitehouse's discussion Problem child
"I stumbled on something very similar to this when Mishka turned 2 - and it works.  He still sounds the alarm, but I get one bark or one aroooo rather than continuous barking.  Thought I'd note that it's worth trying for anyone -…"

Beth replied to Tami Whitehouse's discussion Problem child
"I think this approach is most likely to help with any alert barker, and many Corgis are alert barkers."

"It's tough. On one end, she is still a pup. On the other end, you want to make sure she is trained so that he knows when not to bark. I suggest the nilif program."

"Corgis are "alert" type dogs. When they feel something is going amiss, you can bet that you will find out about it one way or another! Sometimes, an environmental change can trigger unrest in a dog who is otherwise very quiet - Ace started…"

"How much excersise is she getting? Some dogs are more vocal but the barking for no apparent reason is usually a sign that she has too much energy and is expending it that way. Walks at least a half hour twice a day(more for a high energy…"

"Have you tried the "no" in a stern voice? I know if you're trying to quiet her down, you can't use the dogs name and then say no, the dog will get confused. You could also try a water bottle. When she barks, spritz her. It can…"

My Mollie is a 10 month old welsh corgi. She seems to be the dog from hell! When we got her, I drove 3 hours and she pick me. She was the runt of the litter. Only weighed 4 pounds. We go outside and she barks. Right now we are in the living room watching a movie and out of no where she barks. Does…See More
