I'm a first time dog and corgi owner, but have always loved and wanted a canine friend since I was little. It was only recently that it became possible for me to acheive that wish.
I was first introduced to the corgi breed through a show called "Cowboy Bebop", which features a genius corgi named Ein. I've been in love with the breed since.
Once I was able to have a dog, I knew I wanted a breed that had the looks of a bigger dog but the compact size I needed. Corgis fit the bill perfectly. :)
How I came to own little Kazimir is quite the story. I had begun to save up money for a puppy from the breeder I had found, since she was expecting a litter sometime in May. When I was around the $400 mark my mom and I took a trip to her farm to actually meet her. Once we got there we found that she had recently had a litter in September, and that she had a certain pup she wanted us to meet. Once she handed me the little girl and explained that for some reason she was born with only one eye and so didn't want her bred but to go to a loving home, she said that she was free. I wasn't certain, but after holding all the other pups, only the little one-eye seemed to relax in my arms and nuzzle my chin. I fell in love right then and there, and once she was old enough, she became the newest addition to our little family.
I have:

Congrats on your corgi and welcome to mycorgi. I also am new and hope you plan to enjoy the greatness of the corgis for a very long time. This is my second corgi, my first died at only 8 months a couple of years ago. It still hurts but I get a lot of joy from my hayden, my boy.
