Finally finished with his shots I took Cheez-it to the dogpark. It's huge and I think he had a blast. Here is an example of it's hugeness.

I was suprised at his amazing off-leash abilities. He stayed near me almost the entire time, when the girls working at the desk held him while I took the pamphlets/wallet ect. out to the car he was very good until I came back when he started flapping his stubby arms in my direction and gladly jumped from her to me. That was sort of nice, at least I know he likes me even though he is a complete stinker at home.

We started in the small dog area, there was a little KingCharles Cav. and some sort of fluffy terrier thing playing near a shallow pond. He stayed near me occasionally running out when they got rowdy but he never joined in the flap sessions. When they would come to play he would hide under the chair (and he is bigger than them). He spent most of the time hunting tad-poles and toad-nymphs in the pond and one time he even accidentally swam (he walked in too deep, it was hilarious).

Next we hit up the big dog side with the lake and sand bars and big-dogs galore. One lady had a beautiful wolf-huskie hybrid, it was amazing looking. (and a real wolf-hybrid). He joined in a running session with some border-collies and found a stray tennis ball in the lake that was just out of his reach, but mostly he just sniffed around and played dead whenever a big dog came near. The sighthounds in the park (greyhounds and such) kept a watchfull eye on him. I imagine because he is pretty much food to them.

He never socialized much, and calming him down and making him sit for a dog to "meet" him, that drives him crazy! I think he had the most fun frog-hunting and I do not want to imagine how many he ate. I could take a handfull of water and catch at least 20 so I bet he had a good meal.(yuck).

We left sweaty and muddy (both of us) to the rinsing hose. Bathtime at home is amazingly hard, but pales in comparison to the gator-rolling barkyness he displayed while trying to spray him with a nozzle! We walked about some to dry off then headed to the pet-store and he picked out a blue "kong wubba?". I'm glad he liked that one because it seems sturdy and it squeeks. Most things that squeek he makes peices of in a matter of minutes, but this thing seems of strong canvas.

He is passed out on the tile right now, I'm about to wake him and take him to get a bath, I know he's going to hate it, but then he can have some Frosty-paws while I cut his nails. Mabye if we keep going to the park he will start joining in playing, he met at least 30 people and 40 dogs today, thats good for day 1.

Oh yeah, he is 13 lbs now at 17 weeks, mabye he will just be a small dog? I hope he gets bigger!

Now about that bath.....

Sounds like a fun time. Roscoe was the same way the first time we took him to the park, now we've gone 5-6 times, and once we get there, he runs in and starts greeting every dog/person he can. Your dog park is huge! The one we have just has two fenced-in enclosed areas, one for small and one for big dogs, and no water areas to play in within the fenced areas.
