I made Madog stay home from the office today because of his poor performance yesterday. I went home at lunch and let him out and he peed and pooped on command (in training) and then wanted back in the house instead of a walk. We played for a bit and then I headed back to work.

At the end of the day the bosses wanted to know where he was because they wanted him in the office (where he is known as Johnson) and they don't seem to care that he still leaks which means of course I can never quit this job. Evil Bastards.

I get home and get the laundry sorted and put Madog in his fleece and nylon harness. I put him in the car first and attached him to the clip on the luggage strap that the belt around the headrest is looped through which keeps him in his seat and out from under my feet. I rolled down the window so there was air in there and went and grabbed the laundry. When I came back he was just hanging there on the outside of the car dangling and enjoying the view. This was never an issue I had to face with my GSD. I made a note of it.

We dumped the laundry off at the laundromat and went over to a friend's house so that she could meet Madog. She has a senior sable female named Tube. The dog conversation sort of went like this:

Hello nice lady
I am going to kill you
Try it old woman

She got banished to the house and we went and hung out by the pool. Madog was running around and kept running down the narrow rock strip between the pool and the fish pond. We hear a splash and sure enough he ends up in the fish pond. I run over and pull him out of the drink and he stops long enough to shake and soak me then he is off and running again like nothing happened... all FRAP-tastic through the shrubbery in the rockery.

When it was time to leave we are calling him and can't find him. We can hear the collar every once in a while. We are starting to get ready to freak when I realize he is right behind us just sitting there quietly minding his own business watching us.

I get him into his harness which he didn't want to do this is unusual but I guess since he was wet it is like putting on jeans is for humans. We swung by the laundromat and tossed the clothes into the dryer and then I took him home. He was asleep in my arms as I toweled him off in the bathroom.

He took a little cat nap so that he was ready for a walk when I got back from the laundromat and now he is beating the crap out of a flip flop. He must be practicing for his next visit to see the Tube.

The falling in the pond reminds me when I brought Duncan home the first night. It was early, and we have a small pond with fish in our yard also. When, the frog spitter was clogged and my husband was working on it, Duncan finally gets his little legs over the timber landscape around the pond. He watches my husband for a minute and then just JUMPS into the pond. My husband pull him out and I wiped him down.
A few minutes later, as we were sitting in the chairs, relaxing with a glass of beer, I suddenly hear this lapping sound....and sure enough, there is Duncan with his nose in my beer glass! The little stinker! To this day, Duncan doesn't go into the pond anymore, and you have to keep beer glasses out of his reach.
