Good Morning - Just thought I'd give you all an update on my family which now includes a new corgi named Leo. My female Sadie thinks we bought him just for her and it has been non-stop play for the past three weeks. We got Sadie at 8 wks old and ever since has only had the rare occasion to play with other dogs. My two older outside dogs would have nothing to do with her. I briefly thought about getting a male to breed Sadie and raising a litter of puppies once a year but then my husband brought me to my senses and I decided all I really wanted was another corgi (who doesn't want more than one!) for a playmate/companion for Sadie and for the joy of seeing two corgis running around together. Although Sadie is a Tri color I have always been partial to the red and whites so that's what I started looking for. When I saw Leo's pictures and showed them to my husband he said yes - let's go get him. Leo has an appt at the vet tomorrow for his neuter surgery, but I was too late in getting Sadie spayed before her first heat cycle. Wow - what an experience to go through. Now I know I do not want to keep an intact female in the house. It's a lot of extra work. I don't want to block her off to just the laundry room or strictly in a kennel as she thinks the couch is her personal bed. She has been great about wearing her diaper/pad cover but it is more work. Put it on when she's in the house - off when she want's to go out. On, Off, On, Off ! Now I'll have to wait until the end of October/early November before she can be spayed. Leo has no clue he is a boy (he's almost 6 mos old) and that Sadie is a girl (almost 10 mos old) so I'm not worried about her being bred with this cycle - but life will just be so much easier for all of us if they are both fixed and healthier for both of them too! Take a moment to check out my new pictures and if you have any advice on living with two corgis under a year old in the house I'm all ears! (no pun intended on the ear thing!) Have a great day! Shelby, Sadie and Leo
