this is just my opinion
i read something on here a couple of days ago that just really urked me. now i realize that everyone is entitled to thier own opinions and what not and a lot of people will probably not agree with me but i have to say something.
i ran across a blog the other day and a woman was talking about an incident where her corgi was attacked by a pitbull. now it is unfortunte that something like that happened to her and thankkfully her dog was ok. however not all pitbulls are killing machines as she claimed. and i am speaking from personal experience here.
the first dog i ever had i got at 3 yrs old, and he was a pitbull. he was the best dog i have ever had and i owe that dog my life.when i was about 11 i was out walking him one day and my neighbors 2 great danes jumped the fence and were coming after me. he didnt hesitate to put himself in harms way to protect me and if it wasnt for him i would have probably been seriously injured if not killed that day.
i also know other people with pitbulls. one of my neighbors right now has a purebred brindle pitbull that she rescued from hurricane katrina. her name is lily and she is the nicest dog you could ever hope to have and she gets along wonderfully with the other 3 dogs and all the cats as well. it is because she was brought up the right way.
my point is that pitbulls a a breed are not bad, like any other dog it is all about how they are raised. if you bring a dog up teaching them to attack other dogs then that is what they will do because the dont know anything else. and unfortunetly they are often used in dog fights and people get them for all the wrong reasons.
what happened to this woman was horrible and should have never happened but you cant blame the actions of one dog on an entire breed. i dont hate great danes based on what happened to me, im not even afraid of the them. what happened to me was the result of two individual dogs not being properly taken care of, socialized or contained. i blame the people who owned them, not the dogs and most definetly not the breed as a whole.
any dog can be a killer if they are raised that way.

I totally agree with you. People who label Pits as "Killers" are very ignorant and shallow people. I have been around many a pit bulls and all of them have been gorgeous animals. I meet more mean Chihuahuas than Pit Bulls. But, of course, the human thinks Chihuahuas are cute and just because they are 'small' they don't think it's necessary to stop these behaviors. Tsk tsk. Any animal that is raised incorrectly will act the way they were raised. Same with children, you see rude kids because their parents are rude.
That was misfortunate that it was a pit bull that attacked her dog, but that was the pit's owner's fault. :-(

Very well put. Thank you for pointing that out! I have met some wonderful pit bulls before it all depends on who takes care of them :o)
