ok ok... so it has been a while since i have been on, but i have been super busy with work, the husband, house duties, and of course the corgis, but i wanted share that I recently adopted a pure breed maltese puppy from a human society down here, he is the cutest thing my little snowball, but there is only a small downside, he is complete blind, yet he is only 7 weeks old and full of energy. I am looking for any advice or tips on how to make things easier for him, he is very smart as it is, but i want it to be easy for him to do things, and myhusband thinks i am crazy for getting him, but i couldnt say no, i will hopefully have pics up soon, but if anyone has any advice feel free to share. Thanks

Hey Brandi, let me just say that you have done a very noble thing :) I can imagine how strong of a bond you two must share, like Kristen said, your little one doesn't know the difference and nature will always find a way, when one sense is lost, other senses are heighten to compensate. Here's a site you may want to check out http://www.blinddogs.com/

We had a little Schnoodle that went blind and was completely blind forthe last four years of her life. She adapted so easily. If you didn't know it you wouldn't know she was blind. She still took her little walks around the farm. and was a very social little girl. I think she had the number of steps memorized to go upstairs or go outside--she never hesitated unless we were someplace unfamiliar--then I carried her around. Your little guy will adapt since he doesn't know any different. I strongly suggest you work on socialization--it is better if he is not fearful of new people. We can all learn so much from animals. There is no thinking about it--they just move forward. I think it is great that you adopted him. He will bump into things, but he will just stop and figure it out. Good luck! I would have done the same thing!
