Visiting my Corgi breeder this Sunday!!

My wife and I are visiting a corgi breeder in Columbus, OH this Sunday, we have been communicating with her since before she knew her dog was expecting. We live about 2 hours away and the weather hasn't been cooperating with us very well and this is the first chance we really have to meet her and her dogs. She is expecting the new pups to be born next week!!!! Really we could not be more excited. I started out talking to several breeders, a few of which live much closer to us. I found nothing wrong with any of the other breeders, but I just really like the breeder that we are visiting with. It is very important for us to have a ongoing relationship with the breeder. I have a list I put together off the internet for things to ask and look for, but is there any specific questions that I should ask? This is our first dog and I want to make sure that we do everything perfectly. I have read several breed books and about every board post I can find, but I am still looking for advice. With the permission of the breeder I'll post a picture of her dog for my profile to replace my honeymoon in Egypt picture I have now. So, if the puppy is born this week, I'll be bringing home my dog in June!!! We have already picked out a name Yoshi. The sex of the dog doesn't matter to us, although I think my wife would like a female, I kinda lean towards a male because neutering is less invasive. Oh, we are going to get weekly update pictures from the day the pups are born, I will definitely post those.

That's great! I'm glad you found a breeder you're comfortable with. It will be neat to stay in touch with her as little Yoshi grows up. I'm sure she'll love getting pictures and updates from you, too. I think that going and visiting the parents is really important. It gives you a sense of what their temperament is like. A lot of pups grow up to look and act like their parents. You can also see what kind of environment they're being raised in. Is it clean? Do the pups get a lot of interaction with people and possibly with children? Does the corgi mom/dad seem healthy and sound? What kind of food does she feed them? How often do they breed the female? (hopefully not every heat cycle). Is the corgi mom an experienced mother and how did she do with her last litter of pups? Good luck and I hope you guys are able to find the perfect little baby!
