It just turned 6 am, and he is finally asleep for what I think will be the long haul. I noticed he sleeps several 1 hour naps all day and one large 5 hour one once the lights are out. I woke up this morning from the sound of his cage creaking. He wasnt barky, mis-behaved, he actually stayed pretty calm and chewed a nylabone until I got up. Today was a serious effort in potty-training and I learned alot of things about his personality. Even in the 48 hours he's been here, he has came along way with the housebreaking. He only pee'd one time today in my living room, around the same area he pee'd yesterday. I noticed the trend and reached for the peroxide bottle while cleaning the carpet, he found this a good time to hump my foot. Talk about insult to injury. I fitted his collar today, the tag hangs just low enough he can lick it but cant quite reach it. He must have spent an hour trying to grab it today. He also gets startled when he charges the food/water bowl and the tag hits it in a loud clank! He is very good at coming when called, even outside leash-less. Im mabye going to try and put a leash on him tomarrow and let him drag it around some. I did notice that he hears e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.... I moved my toothbrush to the kitchen so I could sleep on the couch tonight. He was a little less intrested in sleep today than he was yesterday, but even so, he falls asleep in about 2 minutes. I have some really intresting photo's of him sleeping in odd positions, it's like he's in the middle of doing something, and then decides he would rather sleep! I need to sleep myself, It has been a ton of work with little Cheez-it today, he's still a joy to be around. Ill post the pictures tomarrow when I am less delusional from exhaustion!

Another intresting note: Of all the expensive toys he's got now, his favorite is this 99 cent rope from the grocery store!!!

oo James, thats defintely a thing he'll do once he gets comfortable, kinda makes sense, they won't expose their belly and underside (which is of course the most vulnerable), until they feel quite secure. give him some time, hell for sure when you least expect it just roll over for a belly rub. =P

He hates being on his back! I sort of hope he sleeps like that, it's adorable.

Grover does the same thing, he'll just fall over asleep, even now that he's older. But man, once he's asleep, you can totally forget getting him to do ANYTHING. When he falls asleep early and I try to wake him up to potty before bed, no go. He is just a floppy, sleepy pants.
The sleeplessness will get better. The first couple of nights I had Grover, he woke up a LOT. But, once Cheez-it gets more comfortable, I'm sure he'll start to sleep a little more soundly.
Love the name, by the way! Cheez-its are my fav snake food!! :)_

Thanks for sharing your story, with a pup as cute as Cheez-it everything has to be cute even with the lack of sleep. And soon you'll miss the puppy stage! I must be dog crazy, or crazy in general, because that doesn't keep me from wanting to add a new addition to our family!
