I break into our regularly scheduled vacation to update myself on what has been going on.

Poppy did very well (from what I can tell) in the 5 days/4 nights of boarding. So far I have only found one flea and no coughing, but sometimes these things don't show themselves for a few days. When the worker brought her out to me, she was so tired (a good thing!) and it took her a minute to recognize me. By the time I got her home, we were back in the swing of things. Apparently she slept in a bed with one of the workers, which was good. On her first night back, she slept at the end of my bed, which she had never done (usually she is totally up in my grill as I'll allow it) so we are off to a good start. No accidents in the apartment either!

Sine everything is going well so far, the real reason I am updating, is because Poppy threw up for the first time since I got her. I thought I would take her to the airport with me when I picked my parents up instead of leaving her alone in the apartment to bark her head off kind of late at night. I checked on her when I got the airport and she seemed fine, but when I dropped my parents off and checked on her, she had thrown up all over the crate. I just looked like her dinner, so I didn't worry too much and we hurried home, so I could clean it all up. I took her out to pee when we got home (we had gone for out evening long walk before the airport) and then up to my apartment. She sort of settled down, but kept getting up to wonder around. Around 2am (we got home close to 12:30am) she jumped off the couch and started majorly sniffing around, so I took her out and she didn't even make it to her patch before she shat pretty bad. I walked her just to the end of the block and she tried to eat some grass, but I didn't let her if I could help it. The next 2 hours, she kept jumping off the couch to throw up a little bit on the carpet. Which oddly did not bug me as much as the pee'ing, maybe because it rarely rarely happens and there is really nothing I can do. I had been feeling under the weather since I have been home, so maybe she had my sympathy's too. I didn't want to sleep on my bed that night because she can't get up and down on it easily, so we finally crashed out around 3:30-4am, both of us on the couch with a lamp on, so if she jumped off, I could see her easily. Luckily, nothing happened after 4am and I didn't really have to work today, so we slept in a little bit. I called the vet to find out what I should do for her (water, feeding, etc) and they said to just water and feed as normal as I told them it didn't look like she ate anything, it was just carsick and the leftovers of it, so that was good. She has been fine all day. I gave her a little wet food with her dry, which I hadn't done in a while and she ate most of her bowl. She has been drinking fine. Unless she has a relapse for no reason, I am not going to take her to the vet, but it's a good thing I can spend all day with her. Kind of like a sick child! Hopefully the rest of the week will go fine.

Have a good new year!

Whenever one of mine throws up more than once, they get fed a bland diet of boiled hamburger and rice, boiled chicken and rice, or cottage cheese and rice for 24-48 hours.  If an upset stomach stomach doesn't improve during that time, then I know it's something more than just an upset stomach.

It's good to hear that things went well with boarding!  Hopefully things continue to go well for the two of you.  Enjoy New Year's this weekend!  :)
