Emma joined us on Monday, and I don't think life will ever be the same! I just got the idea to do this today, so I have some catching up to do. Emma is one of 6 puppies, all girls. She loved to play with her sisters, so she did not like being taken away. She whined a lot the first couple of days we had her, but she was better yesterday. She especially did not like being outside since it was so cold. She would do her business (hooray!), then hide between my feet, shivering and whining. It's warmer today, so she was much better going out this morning.
She has gotten fast too. To be so little, she sure can run! She gallops all over the place, following me wherever I go. You can actually hear her running; she's so cute! Those little legs just work and work to get her everywhere! It's no wonder that she's up and about for an hour or so, then crashes hard. She'll then sleep for a couple of hours, at least. Just as when there is a new baby in the house, it's rather pleasant when she's asleep because I don't have to worry about what she's into.
She has a wealth of toys, but none of them seem to hold her interest. She would much rather jump at my nose or chew on my hair. She especially likes Mike's beard! (Mike is my husband, by the way. He and my two sons, Erik and Andy, will figure into all this too, the more I write.) I try to tempt her with all sorts of toys, but she's not interested. I hope that changes soon! When the weather gets warmer this weekend, I'll take her outside and let her run and play.
Last night, I tried the leash for the first time. She did not like that! She's still getting used to the collar; she scratches at it all the time. The leash was another thing altogether. She tugged and pulled and whined. It's a good thing I was using it, though, because she would have been chasing Phoebe around the yard. Phoebe would have hated that!
