My husband and I just returned from a vacation at 4 Paws Kingdom in North Carolina.

I recommend this place to anyone interested in vacationing with their dogs in NC.

4 Paws Kingdom is the only dog dedicated campground in the US.
It is an RV park for adults and their dogs.
Here is a link to their web site....http://www.4pawskingdom.com/

The owners are dog lovers and do all they can to make the humans and dogs feel welcome.  We do not own an RV, however we rented one from them.  The rental RVs are permanently set up on their land with wood decks built around them.  Our  RV included a fenced in yard as well.  This campground caters to dogs and includes 8 dog parks on the premises.  There are special parks set up for agility, rally, small dogs, private walks, and one has a pond for the dogs to romp in.  The owners have 2 Corgis of their own, so our Corgis got the royal treatment.  There was a total of 9 Corgis at the campgrounds while we were there.
While in NC we also spent a day in Asheville which is a little over an hour from the campgrounds.  Asheville is a very dog friendly town and I personally love the hippy vibe.  The town encourages dogs and several shops put out bowls of water for the dogs.  We ate outside at a vegetarian restaurant and they welcomed the dogs with a bowl of water as well. We went to some cool dog shops like Three Dog Bakery and even visited an antique store that allows dogs to come in and shop.  Asheville is the home of The Biltmore Mansion.  It is beautiful and worth visiting.  We did not see it this time since we saw it about 5 years ago.  If you want to get into Biltmore, you have to leave the dogs at 4 Paws Kingdom since dogs are not allowed in this historic mansion.  However, the owners will walk your dogs for an additional fee so that you can be away for the day.

Near 4 Paws Kingdom is Lake Lure.  We rented a pontoon boat from Rumbling Bald Resort because they allowed dogs on their boats. Much of the rest of the time we spent exploring NC, enjoying the various dog parks on the campgrounds, or just taking it easy.

We traveled from Champaign, IL.  That is 10 1/2 hours of driving.

We did it in two days so the dogs could have a break.  We planned dog park stops on the way there and back.

The owners, Meik & Brigit are very sweet.  They make you feel welcome.

Plus, Brigit knows a lot about dog behavior and offers agility training.

Oh my god, just looked at all the pictures!   Want to go!  It's ten hours, but I think we could handle it.

Sounds wonderful!  Thank you, I may look into it.  It's a bit of a drive for us, but the Corgis travel well.

I love your photos.  It looks like a great time was had by all!  I love the way they have the rv's set up.  So dog friendly.  We live in Texas but it sounds like NC would be a really good trip.
