This past Sunday, Bindi started agility at Dogwood Park in Jacksonville and she loves it! I'm not really sure how long it takes dogs to catch on to everything, but she was a fast learner. At first, she tried to go around the hurdle jumps and tunnel, but after she realized what she was supposed to do she was unstoppable.
So far we have worked on the single jump (I think thats what it is called), the tunnel, and the a-frame. Bindi goes over the a-frame really fast, its almost scary. The agility instructor asked me if I wanted to train her to compete or just for fun, and I'm not really sure. Does anyone know how long it takes to train a dog for agility competitions? How long will it take for her to use the see-saw and the poles? Just from the first class, I can see that she has a natural talent for agility. Can anyone give me any tips? She's in a 5 week beginners class.
I know she's going to be super excited for the next class on Sunday and the Florida Corgi Picnic on Saturday! But really, any suggestions about agility would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Robyn
