Convinced that apartment living can be tremendously tedious for a puppy I decided to take him to one of the parks nearby my complex so he could take a good run. But before we talk about that park let's back up a day.

I gave Caesar his first bath at home on Saturday. Mind that he has been groomed before but it was the first time I attempted to do so. The dog did not have it! He half jumped, half climbed out of the tub, fought with the blow dryer, attempted to eat the towel... He was really not having any of it.

Anyway back to the story... Caesar is having a jolly old good time doing what Corgis do best - Herding the ducks and the birds (more terrorizing than herding but ok I'll take it). He has the retractable lead so it was almost as good as running leash free. Next thing I know he is nearby the pond trying to herd some ducks... I look and think "certainly it's safe. The dog hates bath." I didn't even get to finish that thought and all I see is the duck flying towards the pond and a tiny little Corgi on a half jump/half tumble (he hasn't got the jumping thing down yet) and SPLASH!!! Off to the pond he goes. Now it is COLD!! for our standards here in Arizona. I am freezing for taking the dog out of the water (and mind you that he traded the bottle water I got him for nasty pond water and was drinking big gulfs of it when I finally got it). The dog seemed like he had jumped on a pool when it is 100F outside and the cold day did not phase him a little bit. He got out and ran after the ducks again, only this time I kept him a little further away from the pond.

How can this story get any better (or worse - you chose)? I was waiting on someone for my first date. Luckily he's also a dog lover and got as much of a kick out of it as I did.

PS: Even though Caesar is a pup he was fine after his lake stunt. A little lose bowels but he had gone to the vet already and taken his boosters. He is a little too young to be out and about but at his age socialization is key so he's being exposed to everything I can.
