I haven't had any problems with a harness and I made sure It's not to tight. I just got his a new one cuz his other one was getting to snug and that one doesn't go over his head but, his front legs and snaps on the top. I've found harnesses easier when we go on walks so if he wants to pull toward another dog or person the pulling isn't on his neck. Thanks for the comments btw, I love Corgi's

I love when they do this. Love how the music sped up when Spartan took off. Frapping is the best!

John Wolff's comments are right on btw. I am not a harness fan but I understand why John uses them. There are new and improved harness' that have a flatter more cushioned front and the straps that go around are more friction friendly using a more comfortable fabric, though I don't know if they are more for just walking your dog and would have the strength to hold your pet hanging over a cliff! Eeeekkk the thought of that makes my stomach flip.

A classic frap. Spartan looks a lot like a young Al.
Be suspicious of those chest harnesses; we had trouble with one of them. On a long hike -- after maybe 9 miles -- ours would wear a painful sore on the breastbone or collarbone. I didn't recognize what was happening at first. I thought a corgi just couldn't hike any farther than that. Once I got rid of the harness, no problem!
So make sure it's not too tight, or rubbing.
If you have a sewing machine, you can make one of those harnesses out of light about7' of 1/2" or 3/4" nylon webbing. Right now, I'm just tying four overhand knots in it, but it would be more elegant to stitch it once the dog is full-grown and you've got the fit right. I'm just going to get the fancy commercial harness set right, and then copy it. The harness we have is strong enough to hold a car. I just want something strong enough to hold a 30 lb. dog if he falls off a log crossing into a mountain river. Once you get it adjusted, all those buckles are unnecessary. If you fold the dog's legs and help them pass under the chest band, that whole harness slips easily over the head, so you don't even need the plastic bayonet buckle.
I'll post my design when I have it perfected. Without all that hardware, mine weighs 4 times less.
I like Spartan. Al's long-lost bro.
