I don't know if anyone has heard of the story about Cisco, the dog from Texas who was shot by a police by mistake, but after reading this story I felt that others who don't know about it should know.  This is the link to the story..

This is such a sad story, and I feel so sad for the owner :(

I haven't watched the video and to tell you the truth, I don't want to watch it because if it happens the way the owner says it happens and the comments say it happened, it would just break my heart seeing the dog shot when it didn't need to be shot. This was just a very bad situation all around and makes me think how often I come out front in my house and Noodles is either in the backyard or following right beside me. This very same scenario could happen to me because Noodles isn't behind the fence every time we are outside. This is just sad and it breaks my heart.

I feel terrible.

However, police safety always comes first, and they DO come into contact with vicious dogs on a regular basis. This is why your dog should always be secured, outside of a public way. If this guy had secured his dog in his backyard before going out to his truck, this would not have happened.

that is horrible! i have to say a majority of Dogs will run the fence when a stranger comes into their terrirtory.. its instincts.. you dont have to murder the creature because of them acting like a dog...

Even though my dogs are flouncy little fluffs, I still think someone might mistake their barking and excitement for something else.  It is a sad story but it happens all the time.  Here in Atlanta, the police shot a dog that was chained in the owners garage!  It was another case of an officer responding to a wrong address for a 911 call.  Why don't they draw their other non-lethal weapons?  PS-I'm a big fan of our first responders. These are horrible accidents.

Wow. Just wow. Very tragic and uncalled for. I have had many dogs who would have done the same for me and I'm not sure I wouldn't have ended up shot myself after seeing it. Or in prison for attacking an officer.
