We did it! We made it to the 40 day mark with our new fur babies. And what a wild ride it has been!
Our first Corgi, Corky, has been an absolute joy, albeit very active. She loves to play! Our second Corgi, Auggie, had a slightly rockier start. He came down with a severe case of kennel cough from the shelter, and it took him quite a while and a couple worried vet visits to get through it. On top of that, he apparently has turned out to be a chewer, specializing in rocks from the yard. His first set of x-rays happened during his first week with us. Our vet warned us that Corgis are not "beginner dogs". Yeah, I'm sure that helped! I still think the vomiting was from the kennel cough, not a blockage. I'm proud to say that it's now been a full 30 days since the last vet visit, he seems to be in great health, and no further x-rays have been needed. Maybe there's hope for us!
Both have now started puppy school, and are doing well. We have been really working on the "drop it" and "leave it" commands! ;-)
We also figured out a possible reason Auggie eats the rocks: the rocks are "icy" from the cold weather, and he loves to eat ice. He now gets his own bowl of real ice next to the water bowl inside the house. Problem solved, at least for now. We hope.
We've had many animals over the years, but none as snuggly, playful, creative, and downright entertaining as these two. They are genuinely happy all the time. And who can resist those drummies sticking out, the constant frapping, and most of all, the wiggly tail nubs! We love our Corgis!

Wonderful! So glad it's all working out. Mine love ice, too. Thank you for giving these two a loving home.
