Lucy and I had a very exciting weekend. She learned her first official trick! We've been going to puppy class and have learned the basic sit, down, leave it, which she has picked up really quick. For the last class this week, the instructor asked us to teach our dogs a special trick to show everyone. Lucy and I chose roll over. It was frustrating at first since I don't think I was doing a very good job of communicating to her what I wanted her to do so she just kept going for the treat in my hand. She went down, then on her side, then attacked the treat since she thought she was done. Then all of a sudden, she went on her back and all the way over! I went crazy! We've been doing it probably a million times a day since and she has it down packed! It's so exciting for me to see her get new things. She is really smart so she picks things up really quick. I can't wait for us to find new tricks to add to her repertiore!

There is a Corgi named Lance on youtube who is really inspiring.
I was AMAZED at how fast Seanna learned tricks. I was just as amazed at how fast she refused to do them after she learned them...she'd look at me like "I've already done that. Why do I have to do it again?". My puppy instructor told me I'd have to teach her a new trick every week or we'd have trouble with her, so we did. We did rally training for a while, and the instructor laughed at me one time because I turned the wrong way, and Seanna knew it. Evidently she threw me a look that said "Dumbs*it".
read the FAQ on "My corgi won't come when called" and ask the class instructor about teaching recall. That's a really important (and fun) trick.
