That since I requested the smallest male, I am actually getting the runt!! I thought one of the females was going to be the runt. But I was wrong, and I am sure happy about that!
He's a cutie! Putt's small too, but his size and good looks weren't the determining factor. He was a rescue at 4 mos. old. When we went to meet him he looked at both of us with that "come hither" little face. We picked him up, he snuggled into each of our necks, and that was it.
Markings, color, over personality isn't always the right way to go. Go with the one that has a personality that just grabs you. The prettiest pup to your eye w/o knowing personality in the long run can become the ugliest pup but the one that fits you but isn't always the most stricking at first will be the most gorgeous pup in the long run.
Eddy was the runt as well, we chose him because he wasn't freaking out and jumping all over us like his siblings were, and he turned out to be super sweet and patient towards children and dogs.
Yay, glad you got the pup you wanted. : ) Lance was the runt of the litter, but we didn't specifically pick him because of the that, he seemed to be the one that bonded with the kids the most when we did visit the pups.
My husband and I really did like Lance too, but I was just concerned at first about getting the runt because sometimes I hear they can be great and then sometimes not so great. Our breeder told us that he would be fine as long as we took the time to socialize him. Looking at Lance now you couldnt even tell he was the runt of the litter, and he turned out to have a great personality!!!!!! : ) Have you observed the pup around the other pups to make sure he has the kind of personality for you? We knew we wanted a more laid back pup and Lance is compared to the other pups we had to choose from. : ) Just something to think about, hope this helps. : )
Why did you request "the smallest male"? Do you want a small corgi, or did the pup who most appealed to you happen to be the smallest male?
I would think size and appearance should take a back seat to personality, and apparently a knowledgeable breeder can make some assessments. We did not get to pick our pup; Carrie did that for us -- and Al is exactly what we wanted, +50%.
