I'm thinking about taking Scout and Bindi kayaking. (Hence the reason why I asked about life jacket sizing.) Has anyone tried to do this with their corgis??? Was it enjoyable? I really would like to take them but I'm not sure how they would do! Do they just sit there????? Any help would be appreciated!

And about the life jackets - I cannot remember the name of the company but it has a handle on the back of it and is very handy for grabbing them out of the water.

I almost forgot, Mary, does take her corgis on kayaks out in CA, you may want to check with her to get some tips.

Robyn if you are 100% there are no gators or any other hassle, go ahead. Last year I was planning to go and take Nala with me. But it's like Sam says, the gators are too unpredictable. Also many of my friends have told me not too for same reasons.

Anyway, if you know of a area, or are traveling up north, here is a link that will help you:

If you ever go, let us know where, how it went, and if it's not too much to ask : pictures!! Take care.

Hey Robyn! I'm not sure about up in Jacksonville, but down here in central florida, there are tons of gators, I have not taken mine to a canoe trip, I often go with my friends and paddle up and down the st johns river, 2 weeks ago between us 4 guys, we brought a 44 and a 9mm with us "just in case". I think the biggest problem is corgis can be quite barky, so if they see something "not right", you can bet they will make a lot of noise, it could either "scare" away the gators, or encourage them to tip over the canoe. I would not do it on a kayak, absolutely not an open top one either. If it wasn't for the gators around here, I would feel comfortable but they would still need to be on a leash. Hope that helps :)
