I just joined, and wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm Allie, and my husband, 3 yr old son, and myself just got our very first corg-monster. She's a sable (but mostly red) Pem, and she is 12 weeks. We've had her now for about 4 weeks, and while she is a little firecracker (and frankly a teeny bit bossy) we love her, and I'm already planning out when I want to get our next one!! She's very smart, doesn't mind her crate, and looooves to play fetch! She's a teeny little bug, and only weighs a little over 7 lbs, but she is oh so cute, and so much fun! Looking forward to getting good info about corgis, and advice about training her, ect. =) The picture above is about a week ago, she was carrying a banana from my sons play food set. Of course his toys are way more fun than hers.

Thanks all! She's currently sitting on the couch next to me, barking at me, and trying to eat my computer. Apparently she does not approve of my webbing. She says "play play play!!"

Thanks! =) Actually, she's in a puppy manners obedience class already, and is doing really well. We walk everyday, probably for 30 minutes (hey, I've got a 3 yr old to burn energy off of, too lol) And we work on training for about an hour a day. She'll do anything for some treats, and is really doing well. I can tell she is going to be a dog who needs  a lot of mind stimulation, and exercise. I can tell when I haven't been giving her the right attention bc she turns into a holy terror, and tries to herd us all over the place. Thanks for the tips! Our obedience instructor seems to really know her stuff, and is very much for lots of socialization, and gives out cards that you can have stamped when you take your dog to a pet friendly business and if you get 10 stamps you get a prize for your pup! I'm considering having her come do a home session so she can see her "true colors" bc in the class she behaves bc I think she is a little scared of the big puppies there.. where at home she is bossy... We shall see!

Ok. I have so much advice to give but it would take forever to type so ill just give u the basics. First start training immediately..... the sooner the better. I recommend the books "the puppy whisperer" (not the clear Milan version) and "51 puppy tricks" by kira sundance.... these two have been miracle workers. Next make sure to monitor the food and weight bc corgis are notorious over eaters and being obese really hurts their backs. As far as toys go many corgis like to shred stuffed ones so don't go expensive on those..... Walmart actually has quit a few that are only 1$. Also socialize the heck out of your puppy... the more people they meet the better bc this will prepare them for all types of people so they won't be timid or afraid. Touch your puppys ears, paws teeth ect.... this will make it so that the grooms or vet can do the same without freakin ur dog out and will save them from being bit. Walk your puppy at least 15 minutes a day.... this will not only provide your dog exercise but it will help them to eventually get use to sounds and smells that cause distractions. Also an obedience class couldn't hurt. Sorry for the overload lol and good luck. Just send us a message if u need advice... we have an almost 4 month old so we've already gone thru what ur about to deal with lol

How did I fail to mention her name? We named her Effie! After a character in the Hunger Games... it suits her in an ironic way...
