The vet said his bandage can stay on for five days. The problem is

1. I have tried to gently start removing the tap around the base of his ear and he is yelping, not sure I can even get to removing the bandage. If he is that sensitive  I don't think I will even have the chance to get to the bandage. Should I take him back to the vet to take remove it, I don't want him to associate me with this mess.

2. I am really scared to see what his poor little ear will look like, the vet didn't say how much ear he had to trim to get him in ship shape.  Also I would hate to see an infection after all we have been through, I really feel I may faint if I see that.

3. In all of your experiences is it okay to have his stitched ear flapping around with out protection, though I know it is best to get air to it but we have mosquitos and flies around, won't these critters be attracted to the wound?

awww, give Lando Oliver a hug from me.  Poor guy. Good thing the vet did take off the bandage, I don't think I could have taken it off either.  Glad the wound is not infected.  Hope it heals up real soon for you.

Well I am glad we didn't take it off because when the vet did it started to bleed really bad. The vet put another bandage on it. He told us to watch for more bleeding and if it does to bring him back in. The wound seemed to be fine though and he didn't mention any infection.

He lost  a little bit of his ear, about a pinky fingernail size. The horrible part was seeing that little piece of ear on the patio. I had to get DH to remove it. The vet indicated that he would be trimming the ear, not sure why, maybe  so he could get a good clean or make it so he could fix it better.

Oh poor little guy - I didn't realize that he'd lose some of his ear! I don't have any experience with ear injury, other than the slight nips that bleed like crazy for a short time and then stop. I'd go to the vet rather than try to remove it myself. Please let us know how it goes.

Poor little guy! I wish I had some good tips to give. I hope everything goes well for you and Lando.
