RE: HOME ALONE..What worked best for me and my dog was a "play pen" I bought it through www.petedge.com In fact, to this day when I leave Paddy home alone he prefers his pen. Its much bigger than a crate. He has room for his bed and toys and he can't hurt himself. And he has never tried to escape. Here is a link if you would like to check it out. http://www.petedge.com/ProSelect-Ex-Pen--24-quot-H--with-Carrying-Case-ZW46824.pro He has the 4x4, 24 inch high exercise pen. I hope this info is helpful.

We keep Molly in the bathroom with a baby gate at the door. We always make sure the garbage can is empty (she loves to shred used kleenex) and the vanity doors are shut.We have done this since she outgrew her first crate and the 2nd one we bought seems so huge. The way our floor plan is layed out, it works great. If she wants to be left alone when we are home or we leave for an hour or so, that's where she goes. She seems to really love it in there.

Has he ever tried climbing it up?

I guess I might have to stick to crating ... we tried using baby gates, however he is an escaper and pulled the dang thing down even though it had weights attached to it.
We can't even Corgi-proof our home ... it's not ours, LOL!

Initially, we always crated the dogs when we were gone. There is a risk of you let them roam free. We came home once to find Siri with a potato-chip bag stuck over her head -- she'd found it in the garbage -- fortunately not asphyxiated, but terrified. Other mishaps are possible.
After a recent neighborhood burglary scare, we started leaving the crate doors open while we're gone -- they do not bark at visitors/intruders when they're in their crates. There have been no problems. The youngest was at least 2 y.o. when we started this.
Try to corgi-proof your home (kindly restrain your laughter).

I also use playpens for when we are not around. It keeps them out of trouble when you aren't around. You can find them at petco, petsmart, drs foster smith, and other online retailers. Shipping costs a little extra. I have seen them at our local petco. They are also called exercise pens or xpens.

I used the playpen for Corie when she was a pup. We kept her in the kitchen, it worked out fine :-)

Aww, the one you suggested is discontinued apparently! Do you keep him inside someplace in this pen? Or is this for the backyard only?

Thanks! I've been considering getting something like this for Grover. I crate him during the day now and we have Cats that he will chase all day long I think if I let him run free. A play pen might be a good alternative!
