ME?! UNFIT?! Boy did I have a few words for that breeder.

Okay, so totally off the topic of Corgis, but dang it this is my blog and I shall post whatever I want.
In all of our wedding planning, Jon and I have decided to boycott the traditional honeymoon plans, and take a week off work, set up our new house, and get a puppy. While I want another Corgi (can't have just one, right?) I have wanted a Boxer for as long as I can remember. We decided to search for a great breeder from which to add a Boxer female to our family.
Boxers are notorious for having quite a few "issues" so breeder research is that much more important with this breed. We found a breeder that we really like, but she does not know when she will plan another litter with the economy and all. So, we keep her in mind and continue looking.
I came across another breeders website and was impressed. Did all the right health testing, beautiful breeding stock, etc. We talked via email a few times, adn then got on the phone tonight. The subject of ear cropping came up. We are set on our baby having natural floppy ears. Well, this particular breeder will NOT let us have one of her puppies because her puppies are "top quality and MUST fit the breed standard." Okay, this makes sense for dogs going to show homes, I get that, but are you kidding me? On a limited registration, pet home purchase, it is a requirement? She told me that she felt we were UNFIT for one of her boxers. UNFIT?!?!? Are you kidding me?! Boy did I tell her off!
Five seconds before she was impressed by everything about Jon and I and based off of our preferences reguarding ear cropping we are unfit?!
Wow the search for our puppy is getting aggrivating.
I don't need some broad on a power trip sitting on her high horse telling me I am unfit based on EAR CROPPING. Heavin forbid I want a floppy eared Boxer.

I would totally understand her logic if we were a show home. A breeder's name and kennel are attached to a show puppy the entire time it is in the ring. A good breeder of show puppies will already have their ears cropped prior to going to show homes, but to call me UNFIT FOR A BOXER because I want a PET with NATURAL ears?!
For pete's sake, I don't morally agree with cropping, and i didn't even go there with this woman because she was already so rude. I'm really not fond of show breeders. They seem to have priorities out of whack. We are excellent dog parents and have a very loving home to offer, are willing to pay top dollar, and this woman won't consider us over ear cropping. pfft.

Wow! That is crazy! Maybe she doesn't understand how genetics work, but even you were to breed a dog with cropped ears (which I know you don't plan on), guess what... the puppies would still have floppy ears that need to be cropped because someone has to make their ears like that!! Its not like you are asking for a teacup boxer or a merle boxer or something that would be against breed standards. In my book, something like cropped v natural ears (or tails for Corgis) doesn't affect the standard unless you plan on showing. Silly lady!
