Twas the night before Christmas and all through the shed

Not a creature was moving, they all appeared dead.

The cows were all quiet, from the horses not a sound

The coyotes weren’t howling but you knew they were around.

Snowflakes started falling looked to be in for a long night

It appears that this Christmas, the ground will all be white.

Put some more wood in the stove, stoked up the warming fire

Headed off towards the bed, it’s time for me to retire.

Got the doggies all tucked in keeping my feet warm

They knowing that on my bed they will come to no harm.

Drifting off into the dream land I was awakened by a doggie shout

I jumped out of bed to see what the commotion was all about.

The Corgies were all barking and raising such a fuss

The way they were acting, the Devil was after us.

I grabbed the pistol that I have sitting by the bed

Between me and the Corgies, an intruder is gonna be dead.

I found him near the Christmas tree, he was dressed in white and red

I yelled out to him, “freeze or I’ll shoot you in the head.”

He turned and looked at me with a twinkle in his eye

Then he said to me, “this is not a good day for any man to die.”

“I am here to spread good will and cheer, mostly for the youth.

Mostly I am here, to help people to know about the truth.

Cause the truth is, all this is for the day that our Jesus was born

God gave us His son, His love for us was sworn.”

It took me a second to get what he was saying and what he really meant

Our little meeting in the night was not really an accident.

My visit with the jolly fat man was a thing to think on awhile

I thought it through and came to a great big smile.

People are not simple minded and greedy at least so it seems

Most people know about Christmas, and know just what it means.

I smiled at my intruder, the man in red and white

As he headed out the door, continuing his night.

Wished him a pleasant journey, then I shook his hand

This was getting to be way more, than I could surely stand.

I got a lecture from the person who epitomizes wealth and greed

And he told me to take care of those who really are in need.

This all coming from the fat man, dressed in red and white

Giving me a talking to, thinking about what is wrong and right.

Then one of the dogs moved, probably that young pup

And that was all it took, to finally wake me up.

Seems this whole story, this thing was only in my dreams

Might be foggy but I got the whole story, I know just what it means.

I know what I must do, the thing that is right

I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and to all a good night.
