Naming your corgi...need help here.

Ok, we named our corgi Desi which is short for Desum which means "short" in latin. We have had Desi since October and I am just now getting around to sending in her AKC papers. I know I am slow. I have a delimma though. I only have one name for her. How many names are good for the papers? And how did you come up with the names? I am clueless here. HELP!

Don't feel bad, we got Finn in November and still haven't sent his papers in because we haven't decided on his name. You would usually start with the kennel name but you do not have to. Since you already have one Latin word is use, maybe you could add one or two more Latin words to create a unique name.

Well, since we got Juneaux for my son, we knew we wanted to use his name too. Her registered name is Robby's Little Miss Juneaux. As for Max, we haven't sent out his papers yet, but I've been having the same problem. I'm due in April, so was thinking of using our daughter's name like we did my son's, but its still up in the air. You can use your name, last name, something about her personality, what she likes to eat...I'd get creative!

My breeder told me that we "had to" put her breeding name, so we started out with Milton's. Also, Dee Dee used to be called "Princess" when she was with the breeder, so we ended up naming her "Milton's Princess Dee Dee". She's no princess, but her official name is. :p

you can a lot of times look at the parents names. My breeder always used "Lone Star [dog's name]" cuz we're from Texas. Its fun to use silly titles like Bearegard, Lord, Cheif, Dame, Duchess, I don't know!

Our girl was named Pooka, but ended up with The Baroness von Pooka (my husband picked the first part because The Baroness is his favorite GI Joe character). Other names I wanted were Pooka Paw Sundae, and Pooka Gesundheit (cuz she sneezed a lot), or Pooka the Nose Biter (as she drew blood from both my mom and dad's nose/chin) and finally Pookookachu! (the beatles)

(did you know Corgi means "short dog" in welsh? I liked that you found a name that meant "short" ^_^)

I think you could stick with the latin and just come up with a phrase like "Short of our hearts" or "Big dog now short" ( I don't know latin!!)

good luck, I looked up this very topic when I was lookin to name Pooka. (You're not allowed to use Champion, or certain other titles they'd have to earn in a dog show.)
Good luck!

I hear "Ein" is a pretty creative and different Corgi name.
