Ok, so my puppy is pretty much house trained at home. He has only peed once in my house and that was because I took too long to get my coat on.

The problem is when I take him to my fiance's house he likes to pee on the carpet. I am pretty sure it is because she has a golden retriever and he is trying to mark territory. Except, he isn't peeing on anything upright.

Any ideas? I would like to keep him out at her house, but if he keeps peeing randomly it may not be an option.

thank you for that advice! I think that is what we will have to do at her place.

Hey Matthew, generally it'll take 9 months - 1 year for a pup to be fully reliable. You may need to keep an eye on him and break his habit if he's intact. One of the things that you can do is make sure the stain is clean very very throughly, if the golden had any spot before, you can bet he'll try to mark over it. Keep a leash on him while indoor until he's proven reliable. Good luck!

Dax does the exact same thing. Every time he enters someone else's house he pees randomly. I haven't been able to break him of it so I don't have any suggestions for you, just know you aren't alone. Heh. He's at the vet being neutered as we speak so hopefully that'll help with the marking. Good luck!
