I bought three mylar balloons for Rosie’s birthday (among other things). She was really nervous when she saw them, so she sat and looked at them for a long time. Everyone in the house would stop and admire the balloons for Rosie, and give her lots of attention. I gave her the string of one balloon and she took it from my hand. She held the string and looked up at the balloon, she felt the balloon try to float away and she realized that the balloon needed to be 'controlled'. She held the balloon by the string and took it all over the house. When she let it go it went up to the ceiling, but the string was long enough that she could grab it and pull the balloon down. She realized pretty quickly that she could shake her head up and down while holding the balloon and the balloon would go up and down too! She was in control of the balloon! She was so happy! She played with those balloons all evening taking them by the string and moving them all over the house (and pulling the strings making them go up and down). She was “Rosie master of the balloons”. :DComment
