I have some sad news. We were forced to give up Oreo this past week. He bit a 6 yr old little boy pretty severely. Unfortunately this wasn't the first time he went after someone but was the first time he bit and drew blood. The really scary part is that it wasn't provoked in any way!! I was so upset. Poor Chesney doesn't know what to do all by herself now. We think that there was something wrong with one or both of Oreos parents because all his siblings that we know have had problems. We thought we just got lucky but then his behavior started changing and seemed to just get worse. It was a very sad day.

So sorry, hope it works for him at the friend's house. I'm wondering, it's not probably the issue, but you mention his behavior "changing" -- has he had a thorough check up (thyroid, especially)? Sometimes physical issues like a low thyroid can change a dog's behavior. I see you say his siblings have issues, so it's probably not this it all, but wanted to throw it out there. Good luck and best wishes from us to you and Oreo and his new home.

I am so sorry for all parties involved. I know exactly what it like not be able to trust your dog around people. I really hope the little boy will go on to not fear dogs and that Oreo has a nice life in the country.

I am so sorry to hear that. It's some small consolation that at least you had a safe place to send him. I hope he does well in his new home.

If you used a regular breeder and not a pet store/ puppy mill type, you might want to make the breeder aware of the problem; the good ones will stop breeding certain lines if there are frequent problems in the line.

wow, I'm sooo sorry. I know how it feels to have to give up one of your furkids. I had to find homes for 2 of mine a couple years ago. Though was very different circumstances. I hope oreo does well in his new home. Please keep us updated. Hugs form Kota and me

The boy is ok. He's a bit tramatized. Oreo actually bit him twice and left some pretty deep puncture wounds. We sent Oreo to go live with a friend of ours that lives in the country and has no children. Hopefully he'll do good there. We're crossing our fingers.
