Yup, two nights ago, Simon figured out how to open his crate. I found this out when he barked at 1 a.m., and I turn on the light, and there he is, standing by my bed, all proud of himself! :)
So now there's a LOCK on the crate -- and he's all mad cause he can't figure THAT out!
I can't get over how SMART my puppy is! He's already going to the door to let me know he has to potty! He's only 8 weeks old!!!!! He doesn't do it ALL the time, and does still have accidents, but he does it pretty often, so I know it's registering with him already that potty is outside, and he IS trying to 'tell' me when he has to go.
He also likes puzzles. I bought my other dog, Josie, a 'squirrel tree' puzzle about 4 months ago. It's a plush tree with three plush toy squirrels inside. The object is to get the squirrels out of the tree to play with them. Well, don't get me wrong, I love my Josie, but she's not the brightest bulb on the tree. I was hoping that this 'educational' toy would stimulate her mind a bit. Pfft. All she did was drag the tree around -- squirrels inside and all. For four months.
And then here comes Simon, and he's just a baby, he's here barely two weeks, and he's already solved the puzzle in full once, and I put the squirrels back in, and he's gotten two of them out the SECOND time around in less than 24 hours. He LOVES that thing! You can just see how hard he's trying to work to get those squirrels out! So now I have to go shopping for more doggie 'puzzle toys' for him, since he really seems to enjoy them!
I'm just blown away by what an intelligent little guy I have!
