well, today i took torque to another car show. i left lowlow at home as i wanted to have some bonding time with torque & it is easier to train/manage one dog at a time. any ways it was torques turn this time & she has been doing so good with clicker training & following commands, that i decided to put her to the test. i put her leash on her & held the leash in my hand for a few minutes just so she had the understanding that i wasn't setting her free to the world but she could go where i went. after about 3 minutes i just dropped the leash & she did amazing! if i walked off & said come on, she was right beside me. she would go out a little farther than if i had been holding the leash but never the less she would b right back at my side in a heartbeat & never ran ahead of me. sometimes when having conversations with people she would try to wander off, but with a simple call of the name or a "come here" command...she came right back & sat at my side or in front of me. of course she was rewarded for her proper reactions. i was just extremely happy for this being her first time. esp since there were rumbling hot rods all around (i would put my foot on her leash as to ensure no passing hot rods would hit her if she decided to run towards them, but she never tried at all to get close to the moving ones lol). & some of those hot rots are pretty loud....she wasn't worried though. i felt safe trying it out at our regular car show, as it is a event where we all drive slowly & cautiously through the area (even as young as me & my husband are, we don't like the street racers & speed demons). not to mention torque as always followed commands at home & outside on our acre of land...which is occupied by many distractions (ducks, chickens, ect). i'm such a proud corgi mommy, she did so well & i feel much more confident in her abilities to follow commands. now i just have to figure out how to get lowlow this way....lowlow & torque r polar opposites
